The requirements of different printing materials for ink

1. Newspaper: The embossing ink used for newsprint printing is a type of ink that is very thin, low viscosity, and has good fluidity. Its fluidity depends on the speed of the printing machine. Its drying is completely absorption permeation drying. Nowadays, news printing has been replaced by rotary offset printing, and flexographic printing has also been used in news printing, where water-based ink has been extensively used. 2. Non coated paper: The quality of non coated paper varies, and the ink used must also meet the requirements of various types of paper. Usually printed with viscous ink, but thinner than the ink used for coated paper, the drying method is achieved through penetration absorption and oxidation of the film. 3. Cardboard: Cardboard is commonly used to make paper boxes, cardboard boxes, printed packaging, hardcover book covers, etc. In printing, ink requires good fluidity, low viscosity, and resistance to mechanical forces such as collisions and ink rubbing during transportation. Printing on cardboard can be done using all printing methods: embossing or offset printing with oxide film drying, gravure or flexographic printing with infiltration and evaporation drying. 4. Coated paper and surface treated paper: For embossing and single sheet offset printing, the ink thickness for printing on coated paper should be thicker than that on uncoated paper, the ink viscosity should be slightly higher, and the final drying of the ink is mainly achieved by oxidation film; When printing on coated paper using a rotary machine, it is required to use quick drying ink, and at the same time, oxidized film drying ink is gradually being replaced by thermosetting ink.
