What is the dyne value of ink


The dyne value comes from dyne. Dyne is the unit of force, 1 dyne=newton. The surface tension and dyne value we usually refer to are colloquial terms, but more accurately, they should be the surface tension coefficient. The definition is the pulling force between two adjacent parts of a liquid surface per unit length. The unit of surface tension in the SI system is Newton per meter (N/m), but it is still commonly used as dyne per centimeter (dyn/cm), where 1dyn/cm=1mN/m.
In summary, the dyne value is actually a common term for dyne/centimeter, which expresses the magnitude of the surface tension coefficient.

Surface energy, dyne value, and contact angle are all methods for evaluating the wetting performance of solid surfaces. Solids with higher surface free energy can be wetted better by water droplets on the solid surface, resulting in a smaller contact angle. Solids with lower surface free energy cannot be wetted well by water droplets on the solid surface, resulting in a larger contact angle
The measurement of dyne value is most commonly used in printing, which can reflect whether the material is good for printing and what type of ink is suitable. Because the dyne value of the material is a certain value, the selected ink must be close to it and slightly smaller to achieve the best printing effect.
